How Does Your Donation Help?
211 Illinois is the lead entity responsible for designating the 211 number and overseeing 211 services. We coordinate statewide efforts for existing and service expansion, monitor network quality and changes, and fund 211 services and marketing efforts. Illinois is close to achieving 100% statewide coverage with 211 services. Your donation will help support our expansion efforts to bring vital 211 services to everyone in Illinois.
The Impact of Your Donation (Consumer Testimonial)
For over a year, she had endured domestic violence behind closed doors. Her partner was following through on his threats to kick her and her six-year-old child out of their home. She knew she had to leave — but calling law enforcement felt impossible. She needed to get out of the home as soon as possible. She called 211 instead.
Her voice was one of hopelessness. We spoke with her in her native language. We listened. We offered a warm transfer to a domestic violence hotline. She thanked us but said no — she wanted the information to do it herself, on her terms. We shared hotline numbers. Local shelters. Every resource we could find to help her move quickly and safely.
During a follow-up, her voice was different. Stronger. She had left. She had found a temporary home. She was safe. She told us she was grateful. Not just for the information — but for having someone who listened when she needed it most.
This is the quiet power of connection. And it happens every day at 211.
